Broomfield, Colorado USA, July 9, 2008 — In its ongoing quest to equip the global water industry with the world’s most powerful and comprehensive geospatial infrastructure modeling and design solutions, MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and water resources applications software, today announced the worldwide availability of the V6 Generation of InfoWater for ArcGIS (ESRI, Redlands, CA). By exponentially accelerating large model building and automating scores of tedious tasks, InfoWater V6 enables power users to create, analyze and design better, more complete, and more accurate models in a fraction of the time taken by competing software. More than 50 user-driven enhancements make sophisticated dynamic network modeling and design easy for virtually every engineer, regardless of technical expertise. The release is a further confirmation of MWH Soft’s strong commitment to meeting the requirements of its user base and the increasing demands of the water industry.
The new release heightens the value of InfoWater with significant advances and improvements that enhance the user experience, increase modeling flexibility and computational speed for large systems, and enable greater productivity and performance. This marks the most significant milestone to date in the evolution of the company’s ArcGIS-centric product, now an industry standard for comprehensive water distribution geoengineering and the premier choice of major ENR design firms and large water utilities around the world.
New and improved functionality and unique ease-of-use tools — developed in response to numerous customer requests — make V6 an incredibly powerful and indispensable modeling and design solution. Compatibility with the newly released ArcGIS 9.3 as well as significant gains in overall performance and interoperability plus a richer graphical menu option create an even stronger and more dynamic user experience. A comprehensive ModelBuilder toolbox makes it easy for users to create and update a network model directly from an ArcSDE Oracle and SQL server databases. Imported data can be filtered by key modeling criteria including one or more pressure zones, minimum pipe diameter, and/or selection area. This tool also enables users to automatically allocate water demands to the network nodes from an enterprise customer information system (CIS) as well as automatically merge multiple models into a single larger model, allowing users to create and calibrate individual pressure zone models separately and merge them together as a single multi-pressure zone model.
Other advances include significant improvement in analysis time and graphical and mapping performance … automated assignment of elevations to junctions from DEM data … and an array of powerful new model management tools that optimize database speed and streamline workflow. These developments enable users to address very large model sizes more efficiently and economically.
“East Bay Municipal Utility District located in California previewed some of the major enhancements of InfoWater V6 which boasts more capability, more flexibility, and a significant advancement in performance and ease of use — a clear winner,” said William R. Kirkpatrick, P.E., Manager, Water Distribution Planning Division. “It delivers power that enables users to set higher standards of excellence for modeling very large networks. InfoWater V6 gives us the invaluable ability to quickly develop and analyze larger, more complete water distribution models; identify system deficiencies; and efficiently help determine distribution system improvements for the desired performance.”
Added Arnold Strasser, P.E., Hydraulic Engineer and Project Manager for Denver Water in Denver, Colorado, “InfoWater V6 has really cracked the performance barrier in terms of computational speed. Our 263,000 pipe steady state model now takes about 15 seconds to run. This increased performance will now allow us to use our one to one relationship with our GIS and hydraulic modeling database in an extended period simulation without having to skeletonize or reduce the database. Again, keep up the great work!”
V6 propels InfoWater product suite applications into the next generation, furthering MWH Soft’s time-honored practice of continually adding value to its software and bringing new, unsurpassed modeling and design capabilities — backed by unparalleled technical support — into the mainstream. Robust and feature-packed enough to handle the most demanding analysis, the suite is also intuitive enough for new users to master without a drawn-out learning curve — making it the ultimate GIS-centric decision support tool for water supply and distribution systems. Organizations may also opt to call on MWH Soft Implementation Services to accelerate deployment, integration and implementation of best modeling practices to facilitate an even faster return on investment.
“Just five months ago, we introduced InfoWater V5 to the world and set a new standard of excellence in water distribution modeling and management software,” said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, President and Chief Operating Officer of MWH Soft. “Now we’re pleased to introduce another major evolutionary release that underscores our ongoing commitment to delivering superior value. From top to bottom, InfoWater V6’s unrivaled cutting-edge GIS integration capabilities, rich functionality, speed, stability, and ease of use have been designed to enable world-record network modeling performance. This capability is especially important for analyzing very large and complex systems. No other company in the world of network modeling can match the comprehensiveness of our solution set or provide the same level of integration in a single GIS environment.”
