Southwest Florida's Most Populous County Adopts MWH Soft
Advanced Engineering GIS Modeling Technology

Proven Technology to Support Lee County Utilities' Comprehensive Geospatial Water Infrastructure Management

Broomfield, Colorado USA, February 27, 2008 — MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and water resources applications software, today announced that Lee County Utilities (LCU), Florida, has elected to deploy multiple licenses of InfoWater Suite, the industry’s premier ArcGIS-centric (ESRI, Redlands, California) infrastructure modeling, management and optimization software. The decision is the latest example of MWH Soft’s market-leading momentum in advanced geospatial infrastructure modeling and design solutions in North America.

Since it was founded in 1968, LCU has emerged as a countywide utility providing services to almost 200,000 customers within unincorporated Lee County, surrounding the Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Florida metropolitan area. It operates and maintains a complex drinking water infrastructure system comprising over 1,300 miles of pipes, six treatment plants, and 11 storage tanks. LCU will use MWH Soft’s InfoWater to develop a comprehensive model of its water distribution system for use in determining sound, cost-effective management strategies that best accommodate rapid community growth.

“For some time, LCU has been looking for a cost effective ArcGIS-centric hydraulic network modeling and design solution that can handle our complex technical requirements and is accompanied with excellent technical support,” said Tom Mamott, P.E., Engineer Manager II for Lee County Utilities.  “Our search ended with InfoWater.

Offering direct support to geodatabases, the innovative network modeling technology of the MWH Soft geospatial software suite is unlike competing products. It addresses every facet of utility infrastructure management and protection, delivering the highest rate of return in the industry. Users can choose the tools that best fit their needs, from creating detailed all-pipe models, analyzing various hydraulic and water quality conditions, and identifying system deficiencies to designing new facilities, optimizing operations and performance, determining protective measures and security upgrades, and expanding and rehabilitating existing systems. The suite also allows users to share mission-critical GIS and modeling information in real time over the Internet and corporate intranets to facilitate collaboration and decision making.

Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, MWH Soft’s President and COO, said: “Our continued investment in best of breed engineering GIS modeling and design solutions that are easy to implement and use is delivering superior business advantages for our customers in the form of consistent, high quality engineering GIS modeling data, enhanced efficiency and reliable, cost-effective projects. We are pleased that a visionary, leading organization like LCU has chosen MWH Soft InfoWater technology to support their enterprise-wide GIS modeling and help them manage their water infrastructure more effectively at maximum savings.”
