Broomfield, Colorado USA, February 21, 2008 In its ongoing quest to equip the global water industry with the world’s most powerful and comprehensive geospatial infrastructure modeling and design solutions, MWH Soft, a leading global provider of environmental and water resources applications software, today announced the worldwide availability of the V5 Generation of InfoWater for ArcGIS (ESRI, Redlands, CA).
The release increases the value of InfoWater with significant advances and improvements that enhance the user experience, increase flexibility and computational speed, and enable greater productivity and performance. This marks the most significant milestone to date in the evolution of the company’s ArcGIS-centric product, now an industry standard for comprehensive water distribution geoengineering and the premier choice of major ENR design firms and large water utilities around the world.
New and improved functionality and unique ease-of-use tools — developed in response to numerous customer requests — make V5 an incredibly powerful and indispensable modeling and design solution. Gains in overall performance, stability, and interoperability plus a richer graphical menu option create an even stronger and more dynamic user experience. Users will immediately enjoy improved collaboration and modeling experiences, easily communicating modeling information to others. The software now delivers comprehensive project documentation with complete flexibility in tracking and monitoring multi-team workflows, managing information, auditing models, and organizing large, complex models with important notes and reminders. The result is smoother coordination, better and more accurate models completed more quickly, and new efficiencies at every step for users of all abilities.
Toppling the notion that powerful software must be complex, InfoWater has been engineered at deep levels to deliver advanced analysis and data management functionality along with exponential increases in efficiency and speed — while simplifying use, streamlining workflow, and connecting global modeling teams. In addition to Citrix and Terminal Server environment support, the new version debuts a range of compelling features and ease-of-use tools developed with these goals in mind. They include the most advanced range of design analysis capabilities offered by any water modeling software.
A comprehensive ModelTracker makes it easy for users to organize and manage any modeling project and keep track of all changes with a list of notes or information, streamlining the entire model development and analysis process. This documentation creates a customizable knowledge base that can be organized and searched intensively by project, subject, date, reference, individual modeler, specific data changes, and more. Such enhanced knowledge management enables more effective process control, project status reporting, auditing, scheduling, planning, and team management.
An automated Dynamic Fire Flow Manager conducts accurate batch processing of fire flow computations for all network nodes. The tool considers both magnitude and duration of the fire for various customer categories in an extended period simulation (EPS) mode, then reports any system deficiencies at record-breaking speed. An improved Report Manager puts users in full control of customizing and defining detailed simulation reports for their modeling purposes. The program remembers these settings and automatically adapts to this mode for all model runs. This “set-it-and-forget-it” option is very useful for automatically generating and printing custom project reports in a batch run mode for any number of scenarios. It enables engineering firms to quickly and economically respond to the unique needs of every customer and regulatory agency.
Other advances include an improved numerical solution algorithm for accurately modeling complex parallel arrangements of control valves … significantly enhanced graphical performance with multiple output windows displays and quick, automated cascading of output graph windows for any user-defined link or node sequence profile … automated updating of contours with changing time steps … direct e-mail support … undo/redo delete option … 32-character network element naming convention … and an array of powerful new model management tools that optimize speed and streamline workflow.
Rob Casey, Strategic Network Performance Manager at Thames Water, UK, and a leading European figure in water distribution modeling, said of the new release, “MWH Soft has a deep understanding of the global water utility industry. Each product this company releases delivers a new level of innovation and power that enables users to set new standards of modeling excellence. InfoWater V5 gives users the invaluable ability to quickly develop and analyze rigorous water distribution models, identify system deficiencies, and determine the most cost-effective improvements for optimum system performance.”
The enhancements embodied in V5 propel InfoWater product suite applications into the next generation, furthering MWH Soft’s time-honored practice of continually adding value to its software and bringing new, unsurpassed modeling and design capabilities — backed by unparalleled technical support — into the mainstream. Robust and feature-packed enough to handle the most demanding analysis, the suite is also intuitive enough for new users to master without a drawn-out learning curve — making it the ultimate GIS-centric decision support tool for water supply and distribution systems. Organizations may also opt to call on MWH Soft Implementation Services to accelerate deployment, integration and implementation of best modeling practices to facilitate an even faster return on investment.
“Our product strategy is simple: continuously listen to our customers and invest development resources in technologies that will help them to excel while making their lives easier,” said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D, President and Chief Operating Officer of MWH Soft. “We’re proud that InfoWater has become a mainstay of the ArcGIS modeling community. Generation V5 is the latest way we’re delivering on our promise to equip customers with the ultimate ArcGIS-centric decision support tool for water distribution systems. We were determined that this release would once again set the standard for quality and high-end hydraulic infrastructure modeling and management. From top to bottom, its unrivaled cutting-edge integration capabilities, rich functionality, speed, stability, and ease of use have been designed to enable world-record geospatial modeling performance. We will continue to develop new technology that improves the geospatial modeling process to the point that some day, constructing an accurate model will be as fast and easy as turning on a light.”
