| In the wake of
the devastating loss of Columbia and its crew, our company's
Caring Foundation has donated $25,000 to the Space Shuttle
Children's Trust Fund, a nonprofit fund for children of
astronauts who lose their lives on space shuttle missions.
Our company's Caring Foundation provides aid on behalf
of our global company to people and communities impacted
by disasters around the world.
For all of our employees throughout the world, the
impact of this recent tragedy was especially powerful.
As a global family, we mourn the loss of a crew that

MWH Soft hosted
its second International User Conference in Pasadena,
California, entitled Advances in Geospatial Network Modeling
on August 11-13, 2003. Attendance was very diverse with
a remarkable group of GIS/IT professionals, engineers,
managers, operators, researchers, academicians, and scientists
who came to share their knowledge and experience. The
conference featured keynote addresses from Jack Dangermond
(President of ESRI, the world's leader in GIS software
applications) and Dr. Don J. Wood a world renowned authority
in the field of water distribution engineering. Presenters
from major utilities and top engineering firms in Australia,
New Zealand, North America and Europe rounded out the
event with a wide variety of innovative solutions to real-world
problems.
This world-class, informative event provided attendees
with three days of content rich technology demonstrations
and presentations associated with the latest advances
in water distribution and sewer collection modeling, optimization
and management. It offered attendees a wealth of critical
learning and an invaluable forum for exchanging cutting-edge
information and proven strategies among the water/wastewater
industry's movers and shakers.
The conference was sponsored by twenty-two of the nation's
top engineering and technology firms, including AKM, Black
& Veatch, Carollo, Carter & Burgess, CDM, CH2M
Hill, CGvL, ESRI, Flow Science, GBA Master Series, HDR,
Kennedy/Jenks Consultants, KYPIPE LLC, Lenocker &
Associates, MWH, PBS&J, Psomas, RBF, Sanborn, SEA
Consultants, West Yost & Associates, and Woolpert.
Mainstage keynote speaker Dr. Don J. Wood, presented breakthrough
solutions and innovations in transient/surge analysis
destined to revolutionize the design, operation and maintenance
of drinking water infrastructure systems and more effectively
protect public health.
Other highlights include thirty-five carefully selected
state-of-the-art, real-world situations, presented by
experts from around the world. Additional topics include
the latest ways to interface network models with GIS/IS
and SCADA, develop improved water quality models, build
large-scale hydraulic models, calibrate network models,
optimize system design/rehabilitation and operations,
and improve water security. The conference also showcased
new developments in other critical areas, including innovative
master planning technologies and the role of GIS and Asset
Management in improving business performance.

Here's what attendees have said about IGC 2003:
Just wanted to let the
staff at MWH Soft know how much I enjoyed the 2003 IGC.
All the presentations that I attended were well delivered
and most interesting.
Flow Science, CA
I had a wonderful time at the
conference. Good speakers, good networking, good fun.
Woolpert, CO
I would like to take this opportunity
to congratulate the entire MWH Soft staff for putting
together such a great event. Once again you have done
the hydraulic modeling community a great service by providing
an open and cooperative platform in which to share ideas
and advanced methods of approaching water and wastewater
modeling. Both the organization of the conference and
the presentations were first rate. There are some very
talented people in this community and these conferences
seem to bring out their very best. Keep up the exceptional
work!
The Regional Municipality of Niagara, Ontario, Canada
Thanks to everyone at MWH Soft
for a very impressive conference. There were plenty of
informative papers and even more interesting people. I
look forward to getting a chance to present next year.
